Major landforms of North America


Alaska Range:
Mountains  in Alaska that extend from the Alaska Peninsula to the border of Yukon Territory, Canada.

Appalachian Mountains:
Extend from central Alabama in the USA up through the New England states and the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Quebec.

Brooks Range:
In this range of mountains the most important landform that is the highest point in this range is Mt. Isto.

Canadian Shield:
This shield includes rough and rocky surfaces, and large areas of coniferous forest.

Cascades:
A  mountain range stretching from northeastern California across Oregon and Washington.

Coast Range:
One of the most important landforms of this range is the San Francisco Bay. Coastal Plain:
Extends to the continental shelf and is generally characterized by the level land with assorted mixed forest.

Great Plains:
The fertile Great Plains of North America, from east of Rockies it extends to the edge of Canadian Shield.

Rocky Mountains:
The Rocky Mountains extends from the Mexican Frontier, up through the western United States and on into Canada and eastern Alaska.

Sierra Nevada: 
This mountain range of eastern California gradually grows the elevations on west slope.

Sierra Madres:
It includes two major ranges and one smaller one. This place runs parallel Mexico’s Pacific Ocean coastline.
